GlossWorks Detailed: 2008 Porsche 911 RUF Turbo

GlossWorks was contacted by a client earlier this summer to give his 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo a full interior and exterior detail. This gorgeous car has had the RUF 550 certified conversion done to it at RUF Auto Center in Dallas, Texas. The RUF package consists of an ECU upgrade, air filters, lightened flywheel, exhaust, upgraded sway bar, RUF coilover suspension (RUF uses bilstein damptronics), tires and wheels (RUF 19×9 front 19×11 rear on Michelin Pilot Sport Cups). RUF is known to quote their power numbers a little on the conservative side. On pump gas the car makes around 575hp at the crank. On 100 octane race gas, it should see over 600 crank horsepower. The car is comfortable enough for daily use, but is also a beast on the track.

Car upon arrival.

Looks clean from far…

…but far from clean. Lots of dirt buildup around the emblem.

The wheels did not have an excessive amount of brake dust due to the carbon brakes upgrade.

But they were still dirty nonetheless.

Some dirt buildup in the lug nut holes.

The monster calipers showing signs light signs of brake dust.

The tailpipes needing some love, showing a heavy buildup of carbon.

First a foam down with a concentrated and eco-friendly soap mixture.

The foam is allowed to dwell before a hand wash.

And all the suds hosed off with a pressure washer.

Now the imperfections are starting to reveal themselves.

Light swirl marks and scratches cover many of the body panels.

Light marring is visible.

Door handle was in decent condition, but the surrounding paintwork showing signs of scraches and holograms.

Before.

And after.

Taillights showing some light hazing.

Clarity improved after polishing.

Once the paintwork was polished and sealed, it was time to seal the wheels.

As well as the calipers.

Close up of finished rear caliper.

Sealant was allowed to cure and then removed.

No more dirt buildup in the lug holes. It’s all in the details!

The paint was taped up to prep the rubber window seals for conditioning.

Remember the tailpipes before?

Here they are after polishing and the plastic bezel properly cleaned and dressed.

Reflection off the rear bumper.

Close up shows that the dirt buildup around the rear emblem has been carefully removed and hand polished. The lack of crisp reflections in this picture is not due to the pressence of orange peel, but rather because the entire boot lid is made from carbon fiber.

Pulled out into the sun for final inspection.

All done and ready for pickup!

Check out the official photoshoot of this car by the amazing Andrew Holliday.
