GlossWorks Detailed: 2011 Aston Martin Rapide
Those who know us well at GlossWorks know that the majority of our jobs include endless hours of machine polishing to effectively perform defect removal and achieve a near perfect finish. This is why when GlossWorks was contacted to perform a basic wash and vacuum package to this brand new and still very exclusive Aston Martin Rapide, we jumped at the oppurtunity. The Rapide is a brand new, four-door high-performance sports saloon new to the Aston Martin lineup, and this particular car is currently the only specimen of its kind in Vancouver. Retailing at about $250,000 CAD, it includes a 6.0L V12 that boasts 470bhp and 443 tq, capable of 0-100kph in 5.1 seconds. All specs aside, this is one drop dead gorgeous beauty!
The car upon arrival.
On closer inspection, there was dirt everywhere.
Started by spraying down the wheels.
Cleaning the front wheels with a mild pH-balanced wheel cleaner.
Rear wheels were also covered in heavy brake dust.
Giving it a good brush down with the wheel cleaner.
The rear wheels needed a couple applications of the cleaner.
Wheels are complete.
Fender liners were scrubbed down with a cleaner then pressure washed off.
Car was then foamed down with a concentrated and eco-friendly soap mixture.
Letting the foam dwell to lift the dirt off the surface before hand washing.
Foam is then sprayed off with a pressure washer.
Time for some TLC with a hand wash…
…only the best sheepskin mitt is used on the paint surface.
All soap residue pressure washed off again.
Paint surface dried off with a plush microfiber towel.
One of the most simplistic and elegant car emblems in my opinion.
Drying off the door jambs with another microfiber towel.
Giving everything a good wipedown to remove any traces of water in the jambs.
The spokes and barrels of the wheels were then dried off.
Traces of dirt and carbon buildup was found on the tailpipes.
They were polished up to a bright shine then sealed with a metal sealant.
Glass was given a good wipedown with a waffle weave cloth and ammonia-free glass cleaner, both inside and out.
Tire dressing was then applied with an applicator pad.
Wheels and tires all complete, looking much sharper than before.
Re-installing the rear license plate.
Every Aston Martin Rapide is hand-built and inspected before rolling off the assembly line in Austria.
The car was so new that even the protective wrap around the speakers were still intact!
All complete and ready for delivery.
Awesome reflections.
With the extra set of doors, James Bond can now stick the kids in the back of his Aston when he’s kicking ass!
The front grill adds a mean look to this four door sports sedan….
…while LED taillights adds a nice touch to the rear end.
Job is finally complete. Thanks for looking and please feel free to leave a comment below!
**A big shout out goes to Roland Mah for giving me the oppurtunity to test drive such a rare and amazing car, and to Trevor Mah for the wonderful photography!
Do you travel to do this work? I’m in the Okanagan and have a 2009 DB9 that I would love to have you work on. I also have the 3M protectant on it. Does your polishing and cleaning interfere with that in any way?
Thanks for the inquiry. E-mail sent!
Thanks for the kind words guys! And yes, let’s not forget to thank Nikon for making this all possible!
Terence,
You did an amazing job with the ASTON (and all the exotic cars you normally do), considering you only had 2 hrs of sleep the night before!
I love how you tell a story with your before and after shots. I can’t wait to see more new posts.
Perhaps on my Civic? haha jks.
I think you shouldn’t forget to thank Nikon for making such a wonderful device to capture all that detail 😛
