GlossWorks Detailed: Tigé RZ2 (New Boat Prep)
For those who have been following the pictorial writeups here at GlossWorks, here is something new and different! A few months back before the start of summer, GlossWorks had a chance to do an All-Surface Protection Detail on a brand new Tigé RZ2. The reason for performing a package like this on a brand new boat would be to make sure that all surfaces are properly cleaned and decontaminated before application of a UV-protection sealant. New gel-coats have open pores which start oxidizing quickly when exposed to moisture and UV-rays without protection. An annual (or bi-annual) application of a UV-resistant sealant will prevent fading of the gel-coat and negate the need for polishing down the road.
This is how the boat looked like when we showed up.
Even though this spare wheel has never seen a single mile on the road, the sidewalls of the tire already has noticibly built-up dirt.
Started with a wash of the wheels, including the barrels.
Dirt being sucked out of the tire with the GlossWorks Wheel Cleaner.
After drying, two coats of tire dressing were applied…
…for a nice, matte and dark finish.
Time to focus on giving the trailer a good washdown…
…before an application of a paint cleanser and sealant.
Left with a bright finish like this.
Moving on to the interior of the boat. Even though it was brand new, some stains had to be cleaned off the vinyl…
…before an application of vinyl protectant.
All glass was sealed with Aquapel Glass Treatment for maximum water repellency.
Allowed to cure then buffed off.
All painted interior panels were sealed with a liquid sealant.
Leaving a bright shine and durable protection.
Front seating area all complete.
Entire cabin area all cleaned and protected.
Moving on to the exterior: looks like the manufacturer decided to wax just the cracks.
Residue all removed, leaving a cleaner looking emblem.
After the boat was washed and dried, it was time to apply the first of two layers of UV-protecting sealant by machine.
The smaller areas were done by hand.
After allowing the two coats of sealant to cure, it was buffed off, leaving this finish.
Check out the crisp reflections!
All surfaces were sealed, even all the gel-coated panels above the cabin.
The detail is now complete and the boat is ready for some action in the water!
