GlossWorks Detailed: Mercedes Benz S-Class
Hello GlossWorks fans!
It’s been quite some time since I’ve posted any writeups due to a very hectic schedule this summer. I decided to put together this quick writeup on a detail I performed on a gorgeous Mercedes Benz S550 this past winter. If you look closely enough, you’ll still see snow on the roads!
This is how the car looked after I picked it up. And as usual, clean from far…
…and far from clean!
A Vancouver winter means a combination of road salts and sand deposited on every surface.
The trunk lid and rear bumpers are usually the dirtest parts of the car.
The exhaust tips are going to need some TLC.
These wheels had a thick deposit of grime on the face…
…and bonded brake dust on the polished lips.
Giving the wheels a thorough wash down with the new GlossWorks Wheel Soap (coming soon!)
Then the car was given a foam down to loosen the dirt before a mitt hand wash.
After being pulled indoors and dried, the defects were evident.
There was major swirling on most panels.
Deep scratches around the door handles.
The wide front fenders showing lots of deep defects.
After an intense polishing session and trying lots of polishing combo’s, the deep defects were removed and all that were left are some holograms from the rotary machine.
This was taken care of with a different polisher and a finishing polish. This is the step many detailing shops and body shops skip!
Swirls on the hood.
All the defects removed from the clear coat, before final finishing.
After a full day and a half of polishing on the car, it was time to amp up the gloss on the painted wheel faces.
A coat of durable wheel sealant was applied.
This was allowed to cure and buffed off, leaving this finish.
The metal slats on the side fender vents were looking pretty faded.
The results after a few minutes of hand polishing.
The interior was fairly clean so it was given a quick once over.
Trunk vacuummed and organized.
Check out the diamond studded door pins!
This car was outfitted with all the Wald parts.
Time for some reflection shots!
After more than 10 hours of polishing, the defects are all removed and the reflections pop on the black paint.
Remember how the paint looked like before?
Here is the same panel after 2 full days of GlossWorking!
Don’t be fooled by the clear day, its below freezing outside!
Reflection off trunk lid.
All finished! Thanks for looking and please take a few minutes to leave some suggestions and comments below!
